International Student Services & Programs (ISSP) provides information and guidance on the regulations and laws required to remain in the U.S. legally. Mandatory SEVIS registration, employment, travel authorization, transfers and counseling related to adjusting to academia and life in Santa Cruz are just a few of the services provided. Please visit the ISSP website for information.
Please contact the graduate program coordinator (mathgradadvising@ucsc.edu) if you will not have access to your UCSC email account prior to your arrival. The department will need an alternative email address for correspondence.
Please see the International Student Services and Programming (ISSP) website for new students for a complete list of tasks required. The ISSP Office will be your main source of information regarding your VISA and documentation requirements prior to arriving and during your attendance. The graduate advisor has some basic information about VISA and work authorization processes, but it is often best to get information directly from the experts.
Complete the VISA Check-in within 15 days of the program start-date. This is mandatory for all international students. See the ISSP website regarding VISA Check-In for more information. Note that all check-ins can be completed electronically.
Programming specific to international students occurs on the same day as Graduate Student Orientation, hosted by Global Engagement. Information about International Student Orientation can be found on the ISSP orientation website.
