Keys & Department Access

Access to the Department 

To activate your student ID card for building access, fill out the form at the bottom of the Sciences Building Access and Security page. Use the graduate advisor as the supervisor. Contact the graduate advisor if you have any questions about anything on the form.

Access to Departmental Spaces 

The Mathematics Department is open during the McHenry Library open hours. Access to common space within the Mathematics Department, including the department kitchen, classrooms, tea room, and student offices requires a Common Key which is managed by the Graduate Advisor. 

Graduate students are assigned a desk and office within the department. If the desk has a locked drawer or shelf, a key will be distributed by the Graduate Advisor. 

Keep our Department Secure

Do not share, keep, or make copies of department keys. If you change offices, graduate, or otherwise leave the university, please return keys to the Graduate Advisor or leave them in a sealed envelope marked with your name in the Department Drop Box located outside of the Math Office. 

If you see someone in the building who appears suspicious or does not seem to belong, please do not hesitate to contact UCSC Campus Police immediately at (831) 459-2231. It’s always better to report than to ignore a potential concern.
