Campus Mail Services vs. PBSci Receiving & Delivery (Thimann Stockroom)
Campus mail services receives/delivers USPS mail to all campus units. They deliver to department mailrooms only.
The PBSci Stockroom (Located at Thimann) is specific to our Division. All FedEx and UPS packages are delivered to the Stockroom. Stockroom employees sort and deliver these packages straight to offices and labs.
"We are more than happy to contact your team with any delivery as needed, we do this for many people that we serve. We also appreciate any notice of incoming high valued/and or large items prior to them being shipped to campus; we can prepare for them and we can notify folks upon its arrival, when we make a delivery and we can also provide will-call pickups if wanted. UC Santa Cruz uses Mailcodes (to send) and Mailstops (to receive) receive mail. When you place your department mailcode at the top of your return address for outgoing mail, we put postage on your mail for you, and charge it to your department's FOAPAL at the end of each month.
You can also use your mailcode to send FedEx, UPS and US Postal express mail, for targeted campus distributions and for LiveScan (fingerprinting) services for new employees.
Including your mailstop in your addressing information will help our mail staff know where to deliver your mail, ensuring that you will receive your mail in a timely manner.
The Department mailing address is:
University of California Santa Cruz
Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics
1156 High Street
MS: UCO Lick
Santa Cruz, CA 95064
The Department 'mailstop' is: UCO Lick
The Department's mailcode is: 34.258
Use this code if you need to send a letter or package
This code is used as postage payment, as well as for sending/receiving FedEx/UPS packages
Admin Note: If you will be using the mailcode for research-related expenses - please let the Department Manager know. Depending on the costs involved, we may ask you for a FOAPAL to transfer the expense to as the Department Budget does not cover individual research expenses. If you will be frequently using mail services, we suggest that you set up your own mailcode which would be tied to your research FOAPAL. Mailcodes cost $7.20 per month in addition to any mail expenses.
