Science and KSC parent meetings are happening on January 15th. The KSC meeting will be from 5:30 to 6. Science night will follow from 6:15-7:15. Kids are invited and we want you all to come so we can do some fun hands-on experiments. This was so much fun last year and I know the kids will love to do it with you.
Science Updates:
Earth and Space science test will be Friday 1/16. There is a lot of material to study in their science notebooks and a study guide will be coming home next week.
The following week we will have a paper pencil cumulative vocabulary test on all science words we have learned so far. All the lists will be posted on my teacher connection page by the end of the day. If they made flash cards the last time they will just need to add the new words which will be Weather and Climate, water cycle, and Earth and Space. There are also booklets posted on my google classroom that they can access and use to practice the words at home. The test will not be all the words but any are fair game. Thank you for encouraging your child to study for this test.
Math Updates:
Our math test on fractions will be on Tuesday 1/13. I was going to do it Friday but I really want that extra time to keep practicing.
Also, we will be practicing our math facts every Monday to really memorize our facts. The more automatic their facts are, the easier some of the tough skills will be. I will be sending it home to be signed each week unless they score a 90 and above. They have 5 minutes to complete it. This is not a grade or a punishment, I just really want them to master their facts without having to think about it. The smallest errors are usually math facts.
Students in my homeroom- I sent home a permission slip from Kennedy Space Center that needs to be signed by you and a witness. The witness can be any person over the age of 18. It does NOT need to be notarized. If you are a chaperone you need to fill one out for yourself as well.
Thank you for reading the entirety of this email. This is a team effort and I appreciate your support at home. Please let me know if you have any questions.
