With homework and assessments, I try to be sensitive to student needs and making sure our class is prepared to show what they know. Hello Families!
December is such a busy month for everyone. I am asking that students spend at least 10 minutes per night memorizing math facts for their homework until winter break. Our math has reached a point where if math facts are not automatic and accurate, students are not able to focus on the procedure they are working on. If you're looking for resources to use, here are a few I recommend (Websites change frequently, so please still check on the websites before having students play):
Good Old Fashioned Flashcards! (These can be found at the Dollar Store or made by hand)

In Science, we just started talking about space! Today, we all pondered just how enormous space is--WOW! This is definitely a topic your kids are excited about and I encourage you to dive in and learn more as a family too.

About Me
About Me
Originally from Washington State, my family and I decided Florida was calling in 2022. We love our new home and are excited to be a part of The Villages Charter School family! Heidi (13), Sam (5), Mr. Montgomery and I love to spend time at the beach or fishing.
I have a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies (K-8) and a M.A. in English Language Learning from Western Governors University. This is my 21st year in education, and I've taught in all different kinds of settings - public, private, online, tribal, and charter. The Villages Charter School is by far my favorite school. The community, it's residents, our staff and students all make it such a joy to come to work each day and bless our dream makers and their families.
I'm looking forward to growing right alongside each of these fantastic students this year! Please reach out any time I can be of assistance.

Our families helped me curate a terrific list of places to adventure around the State of Florida at our recent HERD Meeting! Many of these locations are a terrific day trip and low cost. We cannot vouch for each site, so do your research, especially since storms may have affected some locations this past year.
