Happy New Year and Welcome Back!
We’ve had a terrific start to our week. I was so glad to see these faces on Tuesday! Here’s what’s coming up…
Math:
We are reviewing Semester 1 concepts all this week and have a short review assessment on Friday. Students will have a study guide to bring home Thursday night.
Students took a 100 multiplication fact quiz today. It is NOT graded. Every week, they’ll have 5 minutes to complete as much as they can. We check it and they’ll track their progress on completion and accuracy. This page will be sent home for parent signature each week so you can help monitor progress and encourage practicing at home as well. Students are actually pretty excited about meeting this goal by the end of the year!
Science:
We are reviewing our Space content from prior to break this week and next. We have a Science Unit test on Friday, January 16th. They are doing really well with this topic! I’ll have a study guide for them to review all next week.
We are also taking a Vocabulary Review quiz for our content so far this year on January 23rd. They can begin studying their vocabulary in their science journals and I will have other practice materials for this coming in their homework folders over the next few days.
IMPORTANT EVENT! KENNEDY SPACE CENTER MEETING and STEM NIGHT - Jan 15th
We have our final Kennedy Space Center meeting on Thursday, January 15th at 5:30. This only lasts about 30 minutes. ALL students attending the field trip must have a parent or guardian attend. Chaperones must stay for a short meeting with some additional info after the meeting.
THEN! We have a terrific PI opportunity for all 5th grade parents and students! We hope you’ll make your way upstairs after the meeting to have some fun with us at our 5th Grade STEM Night from 6:15-7:15. We’ll have three different super fun experiments for you to do as a family in our 5th grade classrooms! You won’t want to miss this! It’s also a great way to earn that Information PI time.
Have a wonderful evening!
Mrs. Montgomery

a couple pics of where we're from
Originally from Washington State, my family and I decided Florida was calling in 2022. We love our new home and are excited to be a part of The Villages Charter School family! Heidi (13), Sam (5), Mr. Montgomery and I love to spend time at the beach or fishing.
I have a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies (K-8) and a M.A. in English Language Learning from Western Governors University. This is my 21st year in education, and I've taught in all different kinds of settings - public, private, online, tribal, and charter. The Villages Charter School is by far my favorite school. The community, it's residents, our staff and students all make it such a joy to come to work each day and bless our dream makers and their families.
I'm looking forward to growing right alongside each of these fantastic students this year! Please reach out any time I can be of assistance.
Blessings,
Mrs. Montgomery
Let's Go on an Adventure!
Our families helped me curate a terrific list of places to adventure around the State of Florida at our recent HERD Meeting! Many of these locations are a terrific day trip and low cost. We cannot vouch for each site, so do your research, especially since storms may have affected some locations this past year. Hope you have fun with your littles and not-so-littles! 🥰 You can see the 2023-2024 video presentation here if you missed this year's class. Here's a link to the presentation from this year.
