Week of 1/19/26:

I hope you had a wonderful long weekend! We are hitting the ground running this week with a lot to do!
FAST Testing Tomorrow
Tomorrow is our Math FAST testing. I’ve reminded students of how much they’ve learned from the beginning of the school year, and how excited I am for them to see how much they’ve grown! A good night’s sleep and healthy breakfast is most helpful to our kiddos. Please send a snack and water bottle with your student tomorrow. We will be allowing them to have their snack right before testing.
Buffalo Bucks Winners!
Mrs. Montgomery’s Homeroom earned the Buffalo Bucks award for good behavior at lunch time. There is a note in the parent folder discussing their reward on January 22nd. Please check your student’s folder.
NEW HOMEWORK
We will be using an older style morning work for additional procedural fluency practice every night from here until the end of the year. While it is labeled Morning Work, it is actually their homework and it is due on Friday mornings. There are only 4 problems each night. This week with Monday’s absence, there will be about 5 problems each night. Thank you for making sure your student is spending time on this valuable practice!
Assessments This Week
Thursday: Space Unit Test - Students have a study guide and their science journals to study for this very important test.
Friday: Semester 1 Vocab Test - Students have known about this test for three weeks. They have a vocabulary review packet in their homework folders as well as the same vocab lists in their science journals.
Multiplication Facts
Cheesy? Yep! But if you love learning through songs and pictures, these will do the trick!

Students needing extra practice may benefit from using the Khan Academy lessons on the following topics:
Math Websites - Free and Paid
99math - Free Gaming for basic math skills
Prodigy Math - low cost extra practice
multiplication.com - facts practice FREE

a couple pics of where we're from
Originally from Washington State, my family and I decided Florida was calling in 2022. We love our new home and are excited to be a part of The Villages Charter School family! Heidi (13), Sam (5), Mr. Montgomery and I love to spend time at the beach or fishing.
I have a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies (K-8) and a M.A. in English Language Learning from Western Governors University. This is my 21st year in education, and I've taught in all different kinds of settings - public, private, online, tribal, and charter. The Villages Charter School is by far my favorite school. The community, it's residents, our staff and students all make it such a joy to come to work each day and bless our dream makers and their families.
I'm looking forward to growing right alongside each of these fantastic students this year! Please reach out any time I can be of assistance.
Blessings,
Mrs. Montgomery
Let's Go on an Adventure!
Our families helped me curate a terrific list of places to adventure around the State of Florida at our recent HERD Meeting! Many of these locations are a terrific day trip and low cost. We cannot vouch for each site, so do your research, especially since storms may have affected some locations this past year. Hope you have fun with your littles and not-so-littles! 🥰 You can see the 2023-2024 video presentation here if you missed this year's class. Here's a link to the presentation from this year.
