As always, we are gearing up for another busy week of learning. I am enjoying meeting with you and discussing your child's progress. If you haven't heard from me to set up a conference, no worries, I will be reaching out.
Thursday was the quarter mid-point for the third quarter. Hard to believe that we are almost three quarters of the way through the school year. Hopefully, you took some time to look over your child's progress thus far, and celebrated the positives. If they are not where they or you had hoped, set a plan in action and set some goals to get them there.
Just a heads up, the children will be able to exchange Valentines on Friday, february 13. If your child is going to participate, they will need to make a holder at home and bring it in. Also, they must give every child in the class a Valentine. If you would like to send in a treat for the class, just let me know.
In math, we continue with chapter 9- comparing fractions. This is a short chapter, so the assessment is scheduled for Thursday. Mixed multiplication and division will be the focus of the fact practice and assessment. This week's homework (Q3.6) will be passed out on Monday. It is so important that the children complete the homework. It spirals, so it reviews skills that we have covered plus it touches on new skills to come. It is a great tool for the students to review those skills. Just a kind reminder that it should be completed in pencil.
In science, we will continue with Chapter 5: Survival in an Ecosystem. Understanding and completing a food chain, knowing the difference between a producer and consumer, and identifying if a trait is inherited or learned are just a few of the topics that the children will be learning. The children will complete the vocabulary quiz on Tuesday. The asessment for the chapter will take place next week. I have not yet decided on a day, though I am leaning towards Wednesday, the 18th.
If you should have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I wish you all a productive week!
My classroom library link is listed below. If the kiddos finish their work and do not have a book with them, they can select one from my library.
