Preschool Aged Students (TYKES)

TYKES is a "virtual building” for children who are identified as special education students are under the age of six, and are not enrolled in Kindergarten, an Early Childhood Special Education Classroom (R340.1754), Early Childhood Special Education Services (R340.1755), or 0-3 Teacher Services (R340.1862). The TYKES' building falls under the Tuscola ISD umbrella. The building is TYKES and the school district is Tuscola ISD.

All referrals, initial paperwork, and ongoing service updates for children under age six are processed through the Early Childhood secretary located at Highland Pines School. This includes students enrolled in Great Start Readiness Programs and Head Start programs housed in Local School district buildings or in the community. There is a dedicated phone, hotline number for Early Childhood, 989 672-6930. This number should be used by and distributed to parents, doctors' offices, community agencies, school districts, preschool teachers etc.
