ESY SERVICES NOTE: Illuminate/Skyward do not currently allow for the same service to have overlapping dates on the IEP, and will produce an error when reporting occurs (i.e. Speech services are written in for the duration of the IEP, then adding a second Speech service noting ESY Speech services from June to August only----This would produce a reporting error as ESY Speech services are "overlapping" those Speech services provided during the regular school year.
Providers/Coordinators can address this issue in one of two ways:
1) The first option is to create an IEP Amendment at the end of the school year to change service times that will reflect what will occur over summer in relation to ESY. Then a second Amendment is completed when the regular school year begins the following September to reflect services that will be in place for the duration of the IEP.
2) If the decision to provide ESY has been made already when the IEP is being held, a particular service should be written in for/from the date of the IEP to the end of the school year, then from the first day after the school year ends to the last day of summer break (this accounts for ESY services), and finally from the first day of the next school year until that IEP ends----so three service entries under Programs/Services to reflect ESY, avoiding overlapping time frames and reflecting a continuous service with NO DATE GAPS.
