User defined signs are a way to make the program understand signs with a design that is not completely in accordance with how the program is made.Â
A good starting point for an user defined sign is to create an already supported sign and add as much content to that one as possible. Then use the explode road sign function to create polyline version in colors. While working on the creation of user defined signs, it is advised to keep the color mapping functionality set to its default setting. This is due to the fact that the program is optimized to work with index colors as input data, rather than a lot of RGB values. Then you just make the changes to the sign content you would like by using standard CAD functionality and then you're ready to create a user defined sign.
The following sequence of questions appears at startup:
Select object:
Select the data you want to include in the sign... must be closed polylines.
Entering a sign number that is already in the design standard and supported by the program it will automatically pick up a description to use from the program. Enter correct values for reflection, shape and size. For a directional sign the size is the text height in millimeter. Change the value for scale in the top of the dialogue if the displayed values for width, height and area is not correct.
Complete the dialog and press OK to exit.
The sign that was now created will be interpreted by the software as a standard sign object and can be connected to a post using a reference line.
Note: Since user defined signs only consist of closed polylines, you cannot edit the contents of the sign. Content can only be changed by going all the way back to the "outline" (closed polylines) edition and making the necessary updates before creating the sign again.
