Railway Element Data
This window shows data for the individual alignment elements either in the horizontal geometry or in the vertical geometry.
Horizontal Geometry
No. | Element | Type | Radius |Cant, mm|Cant off. start| Cant off. end| End Radius | Length | Param. | Bearing |Speed (km/h)| Insuff. cant (I)|Gradient (dH/L)|dl/dt|dh/dt|Arc Type | Easting and Northing
Headings in bold are relevant for Railway and described below. Other headings are described in the section for element data in Road Alignment Design
Cant, mm
Cant value in millimeters. The direction of the cant is automatically set by the software unless Use sign with cants have been selected in the Railway options dialog. The cant transition (ramp) is placed in transition curve between elements.
Cant off. start
Column will only be shown if Use cant offsets have been selected in the Railway options dialog. The offset value moves the Cant Station into this element.
Cant off. end
Column will only be shown if Use cant offsets have been selected in the Railway options dialog. The offset value (must be negative) moves the Cant Station backwards into this element.
Speed
Element speed.
Insufficient cant (I) (Cant Deficiency)
Insufficient cant = Equilibrium cant - Applied cant
The equilibrium cant is calculated as Eq=11,8*v2 / R where 11,8 is a constant, v is speed [Km/h] and R is radius [m]
NOTE: This cell is not editable and is only for information.
Gradient (dH/L)
Gradient is Cant [mm]/ Length of cant transition [m]
NOTE: This cell is not editable and is only for information.
dI/dt
Rate of change of cant deficiency
NOTE: This cell is not editable and is only for information.
dh/dt
Rate of change of cant
