Gradual Layers
To add transitions in the pavement layers between the road surfaces, use Gradual layers. This is useful to ensure the carrying capacity of the road when changing pavement thickness across the cross-section.
Specify a Start surface to start the transition. Add an Extra distance if needed. Specify the Load gradient to ensure the carrying capacity. Specify the Trans. gradient for the transition to the roadbed of the slimmer pavement.
Figure 1: Example gradual layers
A = Start surface (left side)
B = Addition width for load gradient
C = Extra distance
D = Width for Transition gradient
Tip: The transition is also possible to create in the Detailed Pavement description.
