Kindergarten

Welcome to the 2021 - 2022 Kindergarten Website

You will be able to find a recap of what we learned the previous week, homework assignments, and resources for parents such as the school calendar and handbook.

Thank you to all our Kindergarten families for connecting to ClassDojo!

If you haven't checked out the class' page yet, it is a great place to see daily pictures and updates. You are also able to comment on pictures and send messages to me in the app.

From the student view, your child can change how their monster looks, practice typing, draw digital images, and submit photos to me.

Please keep in mind you do not have to opt into the paid portion of ClassDojo to do any of the things required for class.

Recap of May 9th - May 13th

Bible Study - We learned about the story of Pentecost. Tongues of fire rested on Jesus' disciples; they were filled with the Holy Spirit and could speak different languages. God wants all people to hear of Jesus and to come to faith in Him as their Savior. The Holy Spirit makes us brave and glad to share the news of what Jesus has done.

ELA - We continued practicing when vowels make their long vowel sound (say their name). We practiced words with "bossy e" - a silent e that makes the previous vowel say its name in a word and we practiced when ee are next to each other in a word.

We also continued practicing tricky words. These are words that cannot be sounded out or blended. We talked about how these are words that we have to be able to just look at and read. The words we focused on previously were: the, a, of, all, one, from, was, when, word, where, why, no, to. This week we added, there, here, are to our tricky words.

Math -Students continued working on subtraction. We talked about how when writing a number sentence we write a minus sign and an equals sign. Students worked on using number lines to help solve subtraction sentences.

Core Knowledge - We have continued learning about plants, their different parts, and how they grow. We also heard some more from our pen pal Annie about the seasons and weather.

Our seeds have sprouted! It is so exciting to see how quickly they change every day!

Extra Activities- We were so excited to watch the virtual May Day performance!
