You will be able to find a recap of what we learned the previous week, homework assignments, and resources for parents such as the school calendar and handbook.

From the student view, your child can change how their monster looks, practice typing, draw digital images, and submit photos to me.

Please keep in mind you do not have to opt into the paid portion of ClassDojo to do any of the things required for class.

Recap of the week of September 7th- September 10th

Bible Study - We read Genesis 21: 1-7. God had a plan. God blessed Abraham and Sarah with a son when the time was right. Isaac would be an important part of God's plan. God gives all His children blessings now and eternally. The Bible Words for the week were "The Lord is faithful in all His words." Psalm 145:13

ELA/Skills - Students are focusing on isolating and identifying different sounds, pencil strokes that will help with handwriting, and practicing positional words like in front of, on top of, below, left, right, and behind.

Students reviewed horizontal, vertical, diagonal, cup shaped, hump shaped, curved, zig zag, and wavy, spiral, loop, hook, cane, plus and x lines. They also worked on making sure that they are gripping their pencil/crayons properly with a tripod grip. It was great to see the students really focusing on how they hold a pencil and trying their best to work as neatly as they could.

We have begun working on our phonics skills - associating letters with their sounds and blending sounds together to hear a new word. We are also really focusing on our penmanship. We worked with the letter m and /m/ sound. Students wrote the letter, listened for its sound, made marble art, and more.

Math - Students are working to put numbers 1-10 in number order and to show organized groups of objects. Then students worked to count the objects in the group and used numbers to represent how many. Students have been working on calendar skills (month, year, days of the week, date, graphing daily weather, counting the days of school on a 100s chart and with tally marks). They have also worked with patterns. Not only identifying a pattern but also sharing what will come next in the pattern. Students also learned how to name a pattern by using letters and how to look at a letter named pattern and create it with colors or shapes. We have been working on our number writing skills as once these are mastered we will be able to better complete math activities through out the school year. We reviewed numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10.

Social Studies - Students began learning about explorers and going on a long journey. We met some children whose families were planning to travel to the Indies to get spices and fabric but their plans got canceled when the City of Constantinople decided to not let people travel through. We also began learning about Christopher Columbus and how he had a different plan to travel to the Indies by sailing West instead of around Africa.

*Students have also been working on different skills such as cutting, gluing, and the importance following directions. Students also had the opportunity to do some digital work on the iPads. If you haven't already, check out their work in their portfolio on ClassDojo.

  • 3rd-17th - Regal Bakery Sale began! Check your child's Friday Folder for the order form.

  • 15th - Library Day for Kindergarten - please be sure to send your child's library books to school with them.

  • 16th - Dining for Trinity at Big City Diner in Waipio. Please be sure to bring a flyer with you.

  • 17th - Picture Retake Day - If your child was not at school for the first picture day please plan to have your child take their picture on this day.

  • 19th - Join us for Sunday School at 9:00AM and Worship at 10:00AM.

  • 22nd - Library Day for Kindergarten - please be sure to send your child's library books to school with them.

  • 26th - Join us for Sunday School at 9:00AM and Worship at 10:00AM.

  • 29th - Library Day for Kindergarten - please be sure to send your child's library books to school with them.

  • 30th - Regal Bakery Pick-Up
