Kindergarten

Welcome to the 2021 - 2022 Kindergarten Website

You will be able to find a recap of what we learned the previous week, homework assignments, and resources for parents such as the school calendar and handbook.

Thank you to all our Kindergarten families for connecting to ClassDojo!

If you haven't checked out the class' page yet, it is a great place to see daily pictures and updates. You are also able to comment on pictures and send messages to me in the app.

From the student view, your child can change how their monster looks, practice typing, draw digital images, and submit photos to me.

Please keep in mind you do not have to opt into the paid portion of ClassDojo to do any of the things required for class.

Recap of April 4th - April 8th

Bible Study - We learned about the story of Jesus Heals Ten Men from Luke 17:11-19. God healed ten men with a skin disease; only one told Jesus thank You. Jesus blesses us in many ways, such as healing our diseases and taking away our sin. God's children respond in thankfulness to His mercy. The Bible Words we practiced for the week were: "Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good." Psalm 107:1

ELA - We continued learning about "letter teams". These "teams" are when two certain letters are next to each other they make a completely new sound. For example, last week we worked on the "th" team and talked about how it makes the /th/ sound like in math but also the /th/ sound like in this. This week we worked on "ch" and how it makes the /ch/ sound like in chair and the team "sh" that makes the /sh/ sound like in ship.

We also continued practicing tricky words. These are words that cannot be sounded out or blended. We talked about how these are words that we have to be able to just look at and read. The words we focused on last week were: the, a. This week we added of, all to our tricky words.

Math -Students continued working with addition. We reviewed last weeks' strategies that we can use to solve addition number sentences: using our fingers and using cubes. We also worked on using a number line and a tens frame to help us solve addition number sentences.

Core Knowledge - We have a new virtual pen pal named Annie who lives in Washington, D.C. and is writing to us to talk about weather and seasons. She shares what the weather is like in various seasons for her and asks us to compare our weather to hers.
