Kindergarten

Welcome to the 2021 - 2022 Kindergarten Website

You will be able to find a recap of what we learned the previous week, homework assignments, and resources for parents such as the school calendar and handbook.

Thank you to all our Kindergarten families for connecting to ClassDojo!

If you haven't checked out the class' page yet, it is a great place to see daily pictures and updates. You are also able to comment on pictures and send messages to me in the app.

From the student view, your child can change how their monster looks, practice typing, draw digital images, and submit photos to me.

Please keep in mind you do not have to opt into the paid portion of ClassDojo to do any of the things required for class.

Recap of January 24th - January 28th

Bible Study/Social Studies - As part of our National Lutheran Schools Week celebration we took a virtual mission trip to Zambia. Students learned that 95% of the population there is Christian. We learned about their schools, churches, and daily life.

ELA - We have been working on our phonics skills - associating letters with their sounds and blending sounds together to hear a new word. We are also really focusing on our penmanship. Students practiced letter k and and sorting words with the /k/ sound. We reviewed the letter a and /a/ like in cat ,m, /m/ t, /t/, d, /d/, / o, /o/ like in ox, c, /k/, i, and /i/ like in igloo, g /g/, n, /n/, h, /h/ , f, /f/, s, /s/, v, /v/, z, /z/, letters y and x and their sounds /y/ and /ks/, letter u and the /u/ as in under, letter r and /r/. e and /e/ like in ten, j , /j/, lettter w, and /w/. Students wrote the letters, listened for their sounds, stretched and blended words that contain these letter sounds and use a chaining chart to create words with the letter sounds they know.

Students are focusing on isolating and identifying different sounds, pencil strokes that will help with handwriting, and practicing positional words like in front of, on top of, below, left, right, and behind.

Math -Tuesday was our 100th day of school so we spent the week doing many fun activities associated with the number 100 and counting to 100.
