Kindergarten

Welcome to the 2021 - 2022 Kindergarten Website

You will be able to find a recap of what we learned the previous week, homework assignments, and resources for parents such as the school calendar and handbook.

Thank you to all our Kindergarten families for connecting to ClassDojo!

If you haven't checked out the class' page yet, it is a great place to see daily pictures and updates. You are also able to comment on pictures and send messages to me in the app.

From the student view, your child can change how their monster looks, practice typing, draw digital images, and submit photos to me.

Please keep in mind you do not have to opt into the paid portion of ClassDojo to do any of the things required for class.

Recap of February 22nd - February 25th

Bible Study - We learned about the story of Jesus blessing the children from Mark 10:13-16. Although the disciples told the children not to bother Jesus, Jesus felt strongly that the children were welcome. Jesus welcomes all children to Himself, offering them forgiveness, love and blessing.

ELA - We continued working with words that have consonant blends at the beginning and/or end of the word. For example, words that start with sl-, fl-, or tr- or end with -ck. Students also learned that s can sometimes make the z sound when it is at the end of the word like in his and has. We talked about an apostrophe and how when there is an apostrophe s in a word it can mean that the "thing" that they are talking about is owned by that person.

We have begun reading through stories in our classroom reader book titled "Kit" these are stories that practice grammar, punctuation, and the phonics skills that we have been working on.

Math -Students worked with standard measurement and measuring with a ruler. They learned how important it is to line up the beginning of the ruler with the object we are measuring so that we get an accurate reading.

Core Knowledge - We continued unit on Nursery Rhymes and Fables. Students learned the nursery rhymes: "Hey Diddle Diddle" and practiced telling the nursery rhyme with picture cards they created. Students learned that nursery rhymes and poems usually have rhyming words in them and we can tell a word is rhyming when it has the same ending sounds as a word.
