Kindergarten

Welcome to the 2021 - 2022 Kindergarten Website

You will be able to find a recap of what we learned the previous week, homework assignments, and resources for parents such as the school calendar and handbook.

Thank you to all our Kindergarten families for connecting to ClassDojo!

If you haven't checked out the class' page yet, it is a great place to see daily pictures and updates. You are also able to comment on pictures and send messages to me in the app.

From the student view, your child can change how their monster looks, practice typing, draw digital images, and submit photos to me.

Please keep in mind you do not have to opt into the paid portion of ClassDojo to do any of the things required for class.

Recap of October 25th - October 29th

We had a great time celebrating Red Ribbon Week with special dress up days and activities to help remind us how to take care of our body and not do drugs!

Bible Study - We read the story of God's People Crossing the Jordan River, (Joshua 1:3-4, 5:10:12). We learned how God miraculously led His people into their Promised Land, Canaan. Jesus miraculously defeated our enemies and leads us to our promised land, heaven. Our Bible Words for the week were: "Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice."

Philippians 4:4

ELA - We have been working on our phonics skills - associating letters with their sounds and blending sounds together to hear a new word. We are also really focusing on our penmanship. We reviewed the letter a and /a/ like in cat ,m, /m/ t, /t/, d, /d/, /, o, /o/ like in ox, c, /k/, i, and /i/ like in igloo, g /g/ and practiced n, /n/, and h, /h/ . Students wrote the letters, listened for their sounds, stretched and blended words that contain these letter sounds and use a chaining chart to create words with the letter sounds they know.

Students are focusing on isolating and identifying different sounds, pencil strokes that will help with handwriting, and practicing positional words like in front of, on top of, below, left, right, and behind.

Math - Students reviewed numbers 1-20. Students practiced writing the numbers, showing the correct quantity for each number, showing the numbers on a tens frame and understanding that each one needs 2 tens frames.

Social Studies - Students began learning about what life was like in the early colonies.
