Recap of April 25th - April 29th

Bible Study - We learned about the story of Doubting Thomas

Thomas didn't believe Jesus was alive until he saw Jesus with his own eyes and heard Jesus' words. Through faith, we see Jesus in God's Word and believe that He is the living God.

ELA - We continued practicing "letter teams". These "teams" are when two certain letters are next to each other they make a completely new sound. For example, last week we worked on the "th" team and talked about how it makes the /th/ sound like in math but also the /th/ sound like in this. This week we worked on "ch" and how it makes the /ch/ sound like in chair and the team "sh" that makes the /sh/ sound like in ship.

We also practiced how there are double letters in a word but we only have to say the letter sound once. For example: shell has double l at the end

We also continued practicing tricky words. These are words that cannot be sounded out or blended. We talked about how these are words that we have to be able to just look at and read. The words we focused on previously were: the, a, of, all, one, from, was, when. This week we added word, where, why, no, to, to our tricky words.

Math -Students continued working on subtraction. We talked about how when writing a number sentence we write a minus sign and an equals sign. Students worked on using cubes and a tens frame to help solve subtraction sentences.

Core Knowledge - We have continued learning about plants, their different parts, and how they grow. We also heard some more from our pen pal Annie about the seasons and weather.

Our seeds have sprouted! It is so exciting to see how quickly they change every day!

Extra Activities- We had a blast at the Waikiki Zoo on Friday!
