Kindergarten

Welcome to the 2021 - 2022 Kindergarten Website

You will be able to find a recap of what we learned the previous week, homework assignments, and resources for parents such as the school calendar and handbook.

Thank you to all our Kindergarten families for connecting to ClassDojo!

If you haven't checked out the class' page yet, it is a great place to see daily pictures and updates. You are also able to comment on pictures and send messages to me in the app.

From the student view, your child can change how their monster looks, practice typing, draw digital images, and submit photos to me.

Please keep in mind you do not have to opt into the paid portion of ClassDojo to do any of the things required for class.

Recap of April 11th - April 14th

Bible Study - We learned about the stories of Palm Sunday and Jesus praying in the garden after the last supper .

Jesus our King, humbly rode on a donkey into Jerusalem while crowds shouted, "Hosanna!" Jesus saves us from our sins! We respond to His goodness and grace in prayer, praise, and thanksgiving.

When Jesus was in anguish, He prayed. Jesus was strengthened to do God's will. When we are tempted not to do God's will, we can pray, confidently trusting God's promise to strengthen us.

ELA - We continued learning about "letter teams". These "teams" are when two certain letters are next to each other they make a completely new sound. For example, last week we worked on the "th" team and talked about how it makes the /th/ sound like in math but also the /th/ sound like in this. This week we worked on "ch" and how it makes the /ch/ sound like in chair and the team "sh" that makes the /sh/ sound like in ship.

We also learned about how sometimes there are double letters in a word but we only have to say the letter sound once. For example: shell has double l at the end

We also continued practicing tricky words. These are words that cannot be sounded out or blended. We talked about how these are words that we have to be able to just look at and read. The words we focused on previously were: the, a, of, all. This week we added one, from, was to our tricky words.

Math -Students continued working with addition. We practiced all the strategies we have learned and worked to write and solve our own addition sentences.

Core Knowledge - We have a new virtual pen pal named Annie who lives in Washington, D.C. and is writing to us to talk about weather and seasons. She shares what the weather is like in various seasons for her and asks us to compare our weather to hers.
