HKE FOCUS

Skills Development - Capacity Building

Learning and Innovation Skills: Critical Thinking and Problem Solving, Communications and Collaboration, Creativity and Innovation.

Digital Literacy Skills: Information Literacy, Media Literacy, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Literacy.

Career and Life: Initiative and Self-direction, Social and Cross-Cultural Interaction, Productivity and Accountability, Flexibility and Adaptability.

Performance Standards: ISTE / NETS

The ISTE Educational Technology Standards (formerly National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) are a set of standards published by the

International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE)

to leverage the use of technology in K-12 Education. These are sometimes intermixed with information and communication technologies (ICT)skills. In 2007 NETS issued a series of six performance indicators (only the first four are on their website as of 2016):

👉Creativity and Innovation

👉Communication and Collaboration

👉Research and Information Fluency

👉Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, and Decision Making

👉Digital Citizenship

👉Technology Operations and Concepts

Global Inclusive Movement

21st century skills comprise skills, abilities, and learning Dispositions that have been identified as being required for success in 21st century society and Workplaces by educators, businessleaders, academics, and governmental agencies. This is part of a growing international movement focusing on the skills required for students to master in preparation for success in a rapidly changing, Digital Society. Many of these skills are also associated with Deeper Learning, which is based on mastering skills such as Analytic Reasoning, complex Problem Solving, and teamwork.

These skills differ from traditional academic skills in that they are not primarily knowledge-based content.

ICT Literacy Panel

Digital Literacy Standards (2007)

In 2007 the Educational Testing Service (ETS)ICT Literacy Panel released its Digital Literacy Standards:

👉 Information And Communication Technologies (ICT) proficiencies:

👉Cognitive Proficiency

👉Technical proficiency

👉ICT Proficiency

A person possessing these skills would be expected to perform these tasksfor a particular set of information: access, manage, integrate, evaluate, create/publish/present. The emphasis is on proficiency with Digital Tools.

HKE-ILDP Highlights

👉GDN is proudly associated with Hajirah Khalil Endowment (HKE) Public Regional Education Program (PREP), an exclusive endowment program to provide Broadband Infrastructure to Member Colleges; Communities; Schools; and Universities.

👉HKE provide free and subsidized inclusive proactive services to the needy communities.

👉Funding: Participating companies devote a reasonable percentage of their net revenue to the HKE endowment, each year.

👉HKE Mission is to organize the local communities to ensure that each educational institution has the required broadband tools available, within their geographical boundaries, to access global resources for quality education. Participating Companies support HKE efforts that public engagement, community support, and adequate resources are essential to minimize digital divide.
