The Co-Op staff aim to ensure the participants and employers maintain a positive, constructive relationship. If there is ever a concern, your student's teacher or other Co-Op staff in the program are happy to assist.
If there are any accidents, injuries or incidents, please inform the Co-Op teacher immediately so that we can assist the student and yourself as well as inform our administration, WSIB and Parents, if needed.
Maintaining clear communication regarding student whereabouts is our top priority.
Please share contact information at which your student can notify you if they are late or absent. They will be asked to CC their teacher on all communications.
Daily Check-ins: Students are required to declare their attendance with their teacher digitally immediately upon arrival at your site.
Absences: If a student is absent and has not informed you via text, phone, or email, please contact me immediately so I can verify their safety.
Tracking: Many supervisors find it helpful to log any missed days or lates directly on the provided Co-Op Calendar for easy reference.
The Co-Op team will check in with both supervisor and student via email, google form and text on a regular basis.
The Co-Op team will also visit the student and supervisor to discuss progress, challenges, and goals.
There are two formal “Student Performance Appraisals” that will be sent as a digital survey to your email during the placement. One is circulated at the midterm and approximately two weeks before the end of placement. These provide constructive feedback to students and inform the teacher of the student's progress and challenges within their placement. This is an open process meant to promote learning and development for students. Teachers use this information as evidence towards student grading but the appraisal does not determine the student's grade.
