These hospital placements are slightly different than other hospital placements as they are NOT run by the TDSB, rather, they are operated by the Volunteer Coordinator at the Hospital.
As such, we have put them in the Central Coop section and you will apply for them in the same way you do for other central Coop positions.
This position would be very similar to the clinical positions at Sunnybrook or UHN hospitals. The advantage to applying to St. Michael's is that you may prefer the location and would like to secure your coop position before the beginning of your semester.
Each Co-op student is assigned to a core placement and will spend the majority of their time performing the duties outlined in their role description. In addition, students will be participating in activities designed to support the Co-op curriculum, including: tours of different departments, info and educational sessions, and skills workshops, as allows.
Morning Co-op = 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Afternoon Co-op = 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Full Day Co-op = 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Applications in May for S1 and S2.
Use this link to apply AFTER you have been approved by EH staff. INTERVIEWS ARE FIRST COME FIRST SERVED so apply ASAP.
A series of forms and medical paper will be emailed to you by the Volunteer Coordinator at the hospital. Please show your coop teacher your application before submission. You should begin Volunteer Medical Forms for the hospital immediately as this can delay acceptance.
How to apply (Beginning in May and November)
Students must be at least 16 years of age
Co-op is a single semester in duration. Interested learners must complete the following:
Two completed reference forms
A résumé
Student Graduation Summary or Student Status Summary (demonstrating good academic standing and attendance) - The Coop Department will put this in your shared folder.
Completed applications are reviewed on a continuous basis and in the order in which they are received.
Applicants selected for an interview will be contacted to arrange an interview at St. Michael’s Hospital, in person. Placement offers will be made on an ongoing basis. Students should apply early as placements fill up quickly.
If students are not accepted, they may absolutely find a position within Standard Coop!
