These hospital placements are slightly different than other hospital placements as they are NOT run by the TDSB, rather, they are operated by the Volunteer Coordinator at the Hospital.
They have limits to the number of applications they will receive from each school and all applications must be sent/approved by a Coop teacher.
As such, we have put them in the Central Coop section and you will apply for them in the same way you do for other central Coop positions.
Sick Kids Coop is very diverse in terms of the types of opportunities available but MOST positions are in supporting roles within a clinic or program in the hospital. Please be aware that due to privacy concerns, there are not usually opportunities to work directly within a treatment/procedure rooms.
Clinical Example: Helping to restock materials and help patients to their rooms, while learning about the type of patients that are being seen in a particular clinic.
Administrative Example: Assisting to plan programs and activities to improve staff mental health within the hospital.
Other Examples: Biomedical Engineering, Gift Shop, Patient Library etc.
Applications in May for S1 and S2.
Review the options for Clinical and Non-Clinical Healthcare placements and be sure that you wish to apply.
