Gerry has extensive experience in the classroom as a homeroom teacher and currently as an Elementary Mathematics Facilitator for the Toronto Catholic DSB. Because of his desire to share and inspire, Gerry presented at over fifteen speaking engagements across Canada and the US, in addition to his regular board-level professional development and coaching sessions. Much of his current work and study revolves around equity, culturally responsive pedagogy, ungrading, Thinking Classroom pedagogy, and integration of technology in the classroom. In 2024, he completed his Master’s of Education degree at York University with a diploma in Mathematics Education.
Apart from his work experience, he is currently president of the Ontario Mathematics Coordinators Association and he is one of the K-6 Directors for the Ontario Association for Mathematics Education. For his work with mathematics teachers through the pandemic, he was awarded the Prime Minister's Award for Teaching Excellence in 2022.
