If you only have 2 minutes to spare, please consider trying the following:
If your home is anything like mine, it has bugs. Talk to your child about the bugs you see. Use some specific words to talk about them. For example, "Ugh! Another ant?! I hate the way they crawl all over the cupboards. They scamper so fast when I try to catch them. Look! It is scampering away!"
First - make each of the letters in the word. Use magnetic letters or write each letter on a scrap of paper.
Next - talk to your child about the name of each letter and the sound each letter makes .
Last - help your child to slowly blend (say) the sounds together until they have sounded out the word "bug".
Can you name any bugs?
Dr. Jean's - "Insect's Body" song is sung to the tune of "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes". As you sing the song, use the insect body parts print out to point to each body part when it is mentioned in the song.

If you could be any bug what would you choose? why? (I would be an ant because they are so strong).

We can also use colours to help us describe something.

Craft Time-Build a Bug
Now that you know about a bug's body parts, let's see if you can create a bug using material from around your home (e.g., egg cartons, toilet paper rolls, construction paper, bottle caps, playdough, buttons, yogurt containers, paint, rocks etc.) Can you give your bug a name and tell us two things about your bug? Remember to use describing words. We'd love to see pictures of your bug creation and read about it. Please upload them to the Google classroom .
