WRITING WORKSHOPS
Dedicated and enthusiastic, the Class of 2025 took every opportunity to make the most of their senior year. They wrote compelling and personal college essays, and with the guidance of the Research and Writing Lab Specialist, Mr. Kris, our seniors were able to get that needed confidence boost, whether they were just starting out the essay-writing process or adding their final touches to their essays.
The Class of 2026 was no different! Since the start of the Spring semester of their Junior year, they have taken the college writing process seriously. Many have already been brainstorming various ideas (really good ideas, in fact!), and others are almost done with their Personal Statements.
With a max word count of 650 words, the Personal Statement is no joke. It gives students just enough space to share their most important values, life experiences, and insights with the hopes of convincing the admissions counselors they're the right fit!
Knowing the stress that can come with crafting an excellent Personal Statement, Mr. Kris has offered not two, not three, but four college writing workshops throughout the Spring semester. He has also supported our students through 1-on-1 consultations, elevating their work by modeling effective thinking and writing strategies.
On May 19-20 Mr. Kris organized a two-day summer workshop to walkthrough the ins and outs of Personal Statements and Supplemental essays. These initiatives benefit our students, reinforcing critical thinking, purposeful organization and writing, and self-confidence.
COLLEGE WRITING SECTIONS
College is a thrilling step in our students' academic journey. As they rediscover themselves through their Personal Statement and Supplemental Essays, they also have a chance to highlight their academic excellence, extracurricular talents, unique personalities, and more!
This year the class of 2025 distinguished itself as a committed and passionate group, with students displaying their genuine selves with integrity and kindness. From writing captivating Personal Statements to crafting impactful scholarship essays, our students have wowed us with their college applications.
With the combined efforts of the College Counselors (Ms. Yasémilitt Hernández and Anaís Córdova) and Mr. Kris Torres, our students have maximized their opportunities to showcase why they belong in the top universities worldwide.
Through their College Writing classes with Mr. Kris, students have received personalized guidance so that their content convinces admissions counselors that they're the best fit while also making sure their voice and style shines through!
Apart from these classes, seniors have had in-person 1-on-1 meetings and virtual exchanges with Mr. Kris in order to bolster their college essays.
We're proud to announce that many have already received college acceptances, and we expect only the best for our students.
Before they know it, they'll be in their dream university! Way to go Bears!

Sebastián S. has been a part of our student body since joining TASIS in 4th grade. We have seen him grown and develop his academics both in and beyond our campus. He has also taken advantage of the many opportunities afforded him, one of them being a summer program in Dubai, UAE. His experience abroad has led him to apply and be accepted to American University in Dubai. We are extremely proud of his accomplishments.
Nicely done Sebastián! Way to represent TASIS Dorado!
