Please comply with the following guidelines to ensure the effective use of the CITL during teacher absences or independent student work during class periods.
1. Supervision Limits and Request Acknowledgment:
When absent, teachers who wish to have their students work independently at the CITL must complete the Independent Student Work - Teacher Absent Form at least 24 hours before the class period and receive confirmation first from the Upper School Director then from the CITL Director.
After receiving the proper approval, teachers must fill out the CITL Space Reservation Request Form to book an available space at the CITL for their students. To simplify scheduling, teachers should select the nearest rounded-down hour to their preferred time. On receiving a calendar appointment for the reservation from the CITL Core team, the teachers have secured their request.
When present, teachers assigning students to work at the CITL must fill out the Independent Student Work - Teacher Present Form 24 hours in advance, receive approval from the US & CITL Directors, and complete the CITL Reservation Request Form.
Teachers may assign either a maximum of 10 students or one class of up to 10 students to work independently at the CITL. The CITL can accommodate up to 3 classes or 25 students per simultaneous class period, whichever limit is reached first.
2. Student Procedures & Protocol:
At the time of the independent work period, students must complete the Sign-In Form on entering the CITL and the Sign-Out Form before leaving the CITL for accountability.
Students must adhere to the Rules of the CITL, both the general CITL Rules and the rules for space reservations.
3. Assignment Parameters:
These reservations should be for individual work or collaborative assignments where groups consist of at most 3 students per group.
Students should maintain silence and order in the CITL spaces during their independent work period.
