This course will provide hands-on experience in the planning and construction of sets for our three mainstage productions. Students will become proficient in the use of various power tools in the construction process. Scene change considerations, use of backdrops, lighting, sound considerations, use of hand/power tools, and construction safety will be addressed and practiced. Students will work with those in their class, the students in Theater Technology - Design, and the students in the Stage Crew club to create and finalize set construction. This course is perfect for students who want to combine interests in art, interior design, theater, technology, stage and set design, film, and music. This course can count towards a theater arts sequence.
Theater Technology - Construction can be taken as either a 1 credit, full year course OR a 0.5 credit, alternate day course.
This course does not fulfill the art graduation requirement
There are no prerequisites for this course, but Foundations in Theater is recommended.
Students will be working with a variety of materials including, but not limited to: house paint, cardboard, foam, impact guns, wood, PVC, table saws, and the CNC machine
