Theater Technology - Design offers students focused experience and training in set design and prop construction. Students will design and paint the sets for the school's fall play, spring musical, and spring Shakespeare performances. Students will learn faux painting (sponging, marbleizing, antiquing) and other design techniques. This course includes aesthetics of design, knowledge of historical periods, and their application to the design process. Students will be introduced to industry-standard 3D design software. Students will also learn to collaborate with producers and directors to understand the needs of a production. Students will work with those in their class, the students in Theater Technology - Construction, and the students in the Stage Crew club to create and finalize set designs. This course is perfect for students who want to combine interests in art, interior design, theater, technology, stage and set design, film, and music.
