Special Considerations In the special considerations section you must indicate whether any special adaptations in assessment procedures are needed.
Consider factors such as:
Languages spoken in the child’s home
Cultural background
Economic factors
Environmental background
Lack of stamina
Example: Iwana's language, cultural, economic or environmental background does not indicate that special adaptations in assessment procedures needed to be made. Iwana and her family speak both Spanish and English at home. Iwana's physical or sensory status does not indicate that special accommodations needed to be made in the assessment process. Iwana began school at Imaginary Elementary school at the beginning of this school year. During her first grade year of school she was absent for one entire quarter of the school year. This year she has been absent 17 days. Although these are excessive the team does not believe that absences can account for the many academic issues Iwana is having. She has received intensive intervention from Response to Intervention staff as well as English Language Learner services daily and has continued to struggle to make the gains she should be making. This extensive extra support she has received is felt to have provided her with the opportunity to learn what she missed when absent. Iwana has not been able to make the progress expected given the extra support she has received.
