Aloha, everyone! I'm excited to be joining Sturgis as a 9th grade English teacher at East. I'm from Honolulu, Hawai'i, but went to college on the east coast and lived and worked abroad in Asia after graduating. Eventually, I moved back to the US with my two year old son Tyler and soon-to-be-born daughter Sophia. We settled in Colorado Springs, where I received my masters in education from Colorado College and where I began my English (ELA) teaching career. Many years and adventures later I am an empty nester and am excited to be in your neck of the woods surrounded by nature and the ocean. I am passionate about teaching and education, helping students grow personally and academically beyond their perceived abilities.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy running, hiking, water activities, and eating! I am also studying Spanish and have recently traveled solo to Spanish speaking countries. As I enter uncharted territory as a newbie to Cape Cod and Sturgis, mahalo nui loa in advance for the warm welcome!
Hi everyone! My name is Julia Bluestein. I'll be joining the History department at West. I will be teaching 10th grade US history and IB History SL 1. I'm looking forward to sharing my love of learning history with you all.
I grew up in Cambridge, MA and spent every summer in Wellfleet as a kid. I attended Smith College in Northampton, MA, where I majored in Government and Spanish. I was incredibly fortunate to be able to study abroad in Cuba my junior year. After graduating college, I drove cross-country with my friends before moving to the cape. After a few years of working in restaurants, I moved to Boston to pursue my Master of Arts in Teaching at Tufts University. I taught 10th grade history at Somerville High School while I was in Boston.
I'm so happy to be back in Wellfleet full time and very excited to be at Sturgis!
In my free time, I love to cook, read, and spend time on the beach (no matter which season)!
I'm looking forward to a great year at Sturgis.
I am Graeme Wojtowicz; recently worked at Transitions Centers Inc. in South Yarmouth until July of this year and I am doing inclusion support at Sturgis East! My background is in community and social work, inclusing behavior speciality for adults with developmental disabilities. Aside from community work, I have a passion for music, and have been producing EDM/bass and rap genres for over five years now and am a DJ as well! I am also a huge nerd at heart, Dungeons and Dragons, Magic The Gathering and just about any fantasy type of game are my go-tos! Looking forward to getting to know you all!
Hello Sturgis community! My name is Henry Jacques and I will be joining the Sturgis Science department as a chemistry and biology teacher at Sturgis East.
I grew up on Cape Ann before earning a degree in Cell & Molecular Biology and Science & Technology Studies at Colby College. Now on Cape Cod, I am excited to use my knowledge to help students develop their interests and better understand our natural world. I feel learning chemistry and biology holds great value not only for those pursuing the sciences, but also provides crucial research and critical thinking skills to students of all trades.
When not at Sturgis, I enjoy spending time outdoors, participating in community service, and playing bass guitar. Previous research of mine includes studying metal breathing bacteria, insect body development, and non-human wound healing.
I am incredibly excited to continue my journey in education at Sturgis and to learn as much from my students as I hope to teach them. See you this fall!
Hi all! My name is Tj Ninteau and I am super excited to join the Sturgis community this year! I will be teaching Algebra 1, Integrated Math 9, and Math Applications 1 at East and I cannot wait to get started! I just moved to Cape Cod at the start of the summer after graduating from the Masters of Arts in Teaching Mathematics program at Brown University, where I also got my bachelors degree in economics. I have always been deeply passionate about education and I have worked in the field in several different capacities including lots of different forms of tutoring and internship opportunities at the Community College of Rhode Island and the Rhode Island Department of Education. I have always enjoyed working directly with students the most, which makes me really excited to learn alongside my students this year!
In my free time I enjoy cooking, landscaping, golfing, spending time with my partner, working out, and exploring new places on the cape. If you have any recommendations for beaches, hikes, restaurants, or anything else, please let me know! I am new to the area and I am looking forward to learning more and becoming a part of the community here at Sturgis and beyond :)
Hello everyone. I'll be teaching Computer Science at East and West. I grew up on the Cape, graduated from Sandwich HS and studied Engineering Physics, Computer Science and Software Engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida.
My early career found me in roles largely focused on engineering projects like space systems, Department of Defense systems, particle accelerators and plasma chambers for the semiconductor industry while I lived in Florida. After 15 years of being homesick, I decided to come back to the Cape and transitioned to more software related roles in the finance industry where I worked on Wall Street and in Boston managing enterprise architecture initiatives. Tired after 30 years of corporate speak and endless meetings, I decided that I wanted to create a software business. So, I started a small software company, which quickly turned into two. But application software development can be a tedious and isolating experience which lead me to volunteer at Sturgis (my son is attending as a freshman this year, so it seemed fitting since I would be dropping him off anyways). Well that offer to volunteer quickly turned into a counter offer to teach Computer Science, which I was more than happy to accept.
Outside of my companies and family, I enjoy many different activities (as long as they are a challenge). I like to mountain bike, take on any landscaping or home improvement project (especially if I get to run an excavator or a skid steer), build furniture, play guitar, fly RC Airplanes and go to the New England Revolution games.
Greetings Sturgis community! Ms. Brianna Mahoney here, new English teacher at Sturgis West! I am thrilled to be joining an accomplished, dedicated, diverse, and caring community of educators to teach and walk with the Sturgis West high schoolers. I will be starting my Navigator journey teaching 9th and 10th graders, preparing students for the renowned International Baccalaureate program Sturgis Charter Public Schools is so well known for.
My love of service flourished during my undergraduate career at Merrimack College in North Andover where I studied Communications and English. I partook and led a number of domestic and international service trips working with a variety of organizations such as Rostro de Cristo in Ecuador to Via International in San Diego, California. Following graduation, I completed a year of service in Los Angeles, California through Americorp working in the mental health and social work sector; a transformative year to say the least. Following graduation I found my way back to the classrooms in 2020 and have been working in high school and middle school schools on and off Cape!
I am excited to share my love of all things literature, language, and the human experience with students as they embark on their own academic and personal journeys over the next four years. When not teaching, I am spending time with my family and friends, going to concerts, the beach, and cuddling up with my english bulldog and french pug.
I am honored and grateful to join the Sturgis West community and am looking forward to a transformative school year, not only myself, but students and staff alike! Go Navigators!
Hello Sturgis Community! My name is Scott Bennett and I will be teaching IB SL1&2 Environmental Systems and Societies and 9th grade Biology at Sturgis East. I grew up in Evanston, IL (bordering Chicago to the North) and came to the cape for the first time 2000. I did my undergrad in Marine Biology at Roger Williams University ('05), then four years at the American Museum of Natural History in the Ichthyology Dept., followed by a Masters of Biology at Cal State University Fullerton ('13). In 2013 my wife and I returned to the cape. Prior to my arrival at Sturgis, I spent the past 12 years at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole during which I was responsible for field collections of marine organisms, collaborating with resident and visiting researchers, teaching intensive secondary education courses. For the past five years, I led the Striped Bass Initiative, a research program tracking the seasonal migrations and residencies of Striped Bass along the East Coast, to inform conservation efforts aimed at addressing declining populations.
Outside of the classroom, most of my time, along with my wife, is spent wrangling our son and daughter (nine and three, respectively), our two large dogs and cat. With any free time (Ha!), I enjoy fly fishing, trail running, rummaging in intertidal areas, and making woodblock ink prints.
I am incredibly excited to join the stellar science faculty at East and look forward to an exciting new chapter.
Greetings, my name is Toan Le. I am honored to begin my first year with the Inclusion Support Department at Sturgis West. Originally from Vietnam, I moved to the United States at sixteen and continued my education at Excel High School, followed by earning a certificate in Information Technology from Lincoln Tech. Beyond my professional life, I enjoy participating in sports such as soccer and badminton, as well as following football. Since relocating to Cape Cod three years ago, I have appreciated the opportunities for fishing and exploring the area’s beaches. I am eager to contribute positively to the Sturgis community and dedicated to supporting students as they strive for academic achievement and continuous growth in the coming school year.
Thank you for welcoming me into the Sturgis Community as the new nurse at Sturgis East. I bring over 20 years of healthcare experience and nearly a decade of nursing experience. I have a strong interest in behavioral health and public health. Before joining Stugis, I especially enjoyed working with underserved populations. I am passionate about student wellness, health education, and preventative services.
Outside of work, I enjoy gardening, going to concerts, spending time with my partner and our pets. I also enjoy visiting with friends and family.
I am very much looking forward to getting to know all of the students here in our school and being a key part in the health and well being of our school community.
Greetings Sturgis community! My name is Thais Davidsohn, and I am excited to join Sturgis West as a teaching assistant in the Multilingual Learner Department (MLD). In this role, I support students across a range of classes—including Math, English, and History—by helping them better understand the material and build confidence in their learning. I work especially closely with students whose first language is Portuguese, providing guidance in both academic content and language development.
Originally from Brazil, I moved to the United States almost seven years ago to participate in an exchange program shortly after completing my master’s degree. What was meant to be a temporary experience turned into something life-changing—I fell in love with the country, met my husband Andrew, and we started building our life and family here. The U.S. has truly become a second home to me, and in many ways, it now feels just as much like “home” as Brazil.
Since moving to the United States, I’ve worked in a variety of roles across different fields, including as a receptionist at an assisted living facility, a laboratory analyst at Associates of Cape Cod, and a banking professional at Santander and The Coop. These experiences have helped me develop strong communication skills, adaptability, and a deep interest in working directly with people—especially in education.
Outside of work, I love studying topics related to self-awareness and personal growth. I also enjoy spending time with my little family: my husband Andrew and our sweet dog Sunny (you’ll see us in the photo I’ve included!).
I feel truly grateful for the opportunity to support students at Sturgis and to be part of such a caring and diverse educational community. I’m looking forward to a rewarding and inspiring school year.
Hi everyone! I'm thrilled to be joining the Sturgis Charter School community as the new study skills teacher on the East Campus and looking forward to an amazing year ahead. Originally from the quiet corner of eastern Connecticut, I’ve spent the past 13 years working in education, including the last six at a residential special education school out here on cape cod. I’m excited to return to a more traditional school setting—where my journey in education began.
Outside the classroom, I’m a big Boston sports fan, enjoy painting and selling my art at local craft fairs in my free time. I also love being outdoors and like to get out for a run when I can. I live with my wife and our two energetic boys, who are almost 10 and 6 locally here in Hyannis. I can’t wait to get to know everyone and be part of the great community here at Sturgis!
I’ve been an educator for over 40 years, with much of my career dedicated to the International Baccalaureate program. My academic background is in theatre, literature, and culture—I hold a Ph.D. in Theatre Literature and Culture—and theatre has always been at the heart of my teaching. For more than two decades, I directed major productions each year, coached debate and forensics teams, and built arts-based programs that gave students a stage—literally and figuratively—to find their voice.
In addition to my theatre work, I’ve taught IB Literature and Theory of Knowledge, chaired English departments, and collaborated with colleagues to strengthen programs that balance rigor with creativity. Guiding thousands of students through performances, oral presentations, and critical analysis has reinforced my belief that education should be dynamic, student-centered, and empowering. Just as in theatre, where collaboration and expression are essential, I’ve tried to bring those same values into every classroom and program I’ve led.
