I saw the vision of my umbrella person under a stunning fireworks show, and thought this would be a perfect way to encapsulate this.

It started with a slab of linoleum, which I then carved to leave the parts that I wanted to pass ink on from, making sure to carve the inverse of what I wanted to appear on the final print. Then I rolled ink onto the carved slab and pressed a piece of paper onto it, rubbing over to make sure the ink was evenly distributed. That last step was repeated as many times as I needed to before I got a result I was happy with, shown in those four images at the top.

The idea for this piece stemmed from a character that I like to put in my art every now and again, whom I lovingly call the "umbrella person." I then thought it would be interesting to have fireworks or something similar going on overhead.
