Stella at the Everdoor

This piece was inspired by both the Leonardo Da Vinci—specifically the Mona Lisa—and Claude Monet. Alongside those, I was also inspired by my all-time favorite game, Spiritfarer. I took inspiration from the Mona Lisa for the framing of Stella, and from Monet for the style of the piece.

This piece was started with a sketch using graphite on paper, and then transformed to digital using my tablet.

Throughout the creation of this piece, I went through multiple iterations of backgrounds, but only one sketch of Stella. The background started as a simple sunset that I threw together, mostly as a proof-of-concept, and then I took screenshots from in-game from multiple settings to see what setting would work the best. Eventually I settled on the Everdoor, which is a primary location throughout the game (trying my best not to spoil). Once I had decided on that, I did an initial 'paint pass' to finalize the colors and style. Once I had the colors settled, I started transitioning it into this style.
