Graphite and colored pencils on printmaking paper
The main idea behind the works were very simple—shade a circle to look like a sphere on a table, and color in some candy to make it look right. There really is no deeper expressional meaning or anything like that. It was really all just technical.
To create the works, I used (in theory) a variety of materials, ranging from graphite at the start to colored pencils, markers, and watercolor. In reality I only ended up using graphite, colored pencils, and markers.
There was a little experimentation throughout, but overall it was fairly straightforward. There was some messing around to shade the sphere with markers properly, giving it a good gradient. There was also the trial-and-error of getting the candies sketched onto the paper properly.
