Independent Project

Colorful Patterns

8x12

Bristol paper, markers, sharpie, graphite pencil, ink pen

The idea that guided my artwork for this Independent Project was that I wanted to do something very basic but also something that was unique and not boring. I decided to create lots of different colorful patterns and made sure to use a variety of different patterns throughout my artwork trying not to repeat any.

The materials I used to create this artwork were colorful markers that I used to make the patterns pop out more and not so boring, I also used a sharpie for all of my lines to make sure the patterns were very clear. I used a graphite pencil to sketch out the patterns before making them completely permanent with Sharpie. I also used an ink pen for some of the smaller designs in my patterns.

The steps of my Independent Project were that I first started by sectioning off the paper into many different shapes which I knew was where  I would put my patterns, I then went by shape by shape and sketched out patterns for each section. Once I found the pattern I liked I went over it with Sharpie and then spiced it up with colorful marker colors at the very end.
