Tile Project

For this project our assignment was to make a mold that would make four tiles. the tiles had to have something in common, each one had to be the exact same. i wanted to do something with the ocean, i wanted to incorporate water and blues, but i also wanted it to be unique and different. i first started out with rolling out a slab of clay, i then rolled out three other slabs of clay. for the waves i stacked two layers of clay on top of each other, and blended them in together with a textured wooden tool, to make the waves appear. after i was finished with layering the clay i put starfish on the very top. after that i poured the mold into to make the mold. 

This project is something i've never done before, so using a mold was a fun and challenging experience. what i found challenging with this project was when i took my clay out of the mold, i realized i had undercuts, which made the clay stick to the mold and not come out perfectly.
