Our pergola is a great source of shade when it's hot during the summer time. Aswell as the chinese pistache trees provide lots of shade due to how full the branches get during the hotter weather.
These Chinese pistache trees lose their leaves when the weather get colder, this helps let as much sunlight through as possible during the colder season. We decided to keep our ground mainly grass and soil. This helps during rainy season because the soil will soak up the rain and keep the area from overflowing the area.
We wanted to make a nice, simplistic area where students can be social, get work done, and relax at lunch or break.
For our pergola we wanted to be made of pressur washed wood because it was conventional and that was a goal of ours, to keep it simple. We chose the Chinese Pistache trees because of how versatile they were, providing shade in the summer and let as much sunlight through in the winter.
When we created our blueprint we were keeping in mind how we wanted our design to be simple and useful. Our blueprint does exactly that, shows what our design is used for and how.
