Our project: we made our own car with an arm of added force behind it. We deisgned our car to have lots of force behind it so it could travel at the fastest speed possible. We found which angle worked best speed wise for the arm to swing and hit our car. Our goal being to make the fastest car we could and to find the force needed behind it for our car to go this speed. We also found the forces around and of the car. We started with a different design to understand our content and the data we would be finding and then built our final design in the maker space.
We were also able to calculate forces of slope and our orginal car on the sploe. In the end we didn't end up using a slope as the added force to our car. Rather we added the force of the arm swinging to hit the car and push it foward. We used many resources to find and calculate our data such as NCSU MyTech for finding the acceleration of our original car. We used spring scales to find forces, etc. Our data ended up showing consistent and well done for the difficulty of the added arm behinf it.
