In English we have done many things from learning how to annotate to how to write clear paragraphs and essays. We have been analyzing literature to become better readers, writers, and learners. Over the year we have worked on our academic vocabulary, we do vocab work almost every week. With this we learn new roots of words and what they mean. We also work on how to put together thoughtful essays and poems. Throughout the year we have read many books, some together as a class and some as independent reading books. In English we've learned how to give oral presentations and how to have class discussions. This whole year we will have read Lord of the Flies, Diary of a Part-Time Indian, Romeo and Juliet, and To Kill a Mockingbird. English gives us many options on what we choose to read for our independent reading books (IRB). We got to choose what books interested us the most out of the many choices. Overall English lets us learn more about different ways to think and solve problems, and prepare us for the future.
