Identify The Need: The need for this project was the problem in our world today and the solution that we came up with. For my group it was how to prevent injuries and deaths in car crashes.
Research The Problem: We researched 2 different articles each and then annotated them and copied down short parts of everything that we found that would be important.
Develop Possible Solutions: We brainstormed about 20 different solutions that we could think of to try to solve this problem. We wrote down any ideas that we thought of no matter if they were random or not.
Select Most Promising Solutions: We narrowed down our list to about 5 different solutions and then instead of picking one solution we picked 3 to better try to keep people safe.
Construct A Prototype: We drew a prototype of what we wanted our 4 point seat belt to look like on our car seat. We then built our prototype on a chair with wheels out of real seat belt material and some clips.
Test/Evaluate That Prototype: We tested our prototype by strapping a person into the chair and then ran and abruptly stopped and pulled them back to try to lightly simulate the force of a car accident.
Communicate Your Design: We talked about our design and how comfortable it was and how well it worked in many different ways.
Redesign/Repeat: Finally we redesigned our product to make it the most safe, easy, and comfortable it could be.
