In this project we were supposed to think of a major problem and then find a way to fix it by engineering a solution.
The first thing we did when we started this project was pick our problem. We brainstormed a couple of problems and then finally chose car injuries and deaths. We then thought of some solutions. We chose to do a new type of seat belt, changing the speed limit, and putting breathalyzers in every car to turn it on. The first solution we decided to research was a seat belt. We found that the 4 or 5 point seat belt was the best for keeping someone secure during a car crash. We then built a seat belt using seat belt material and clips, we then built it around a chair with wheels as our prototype. The next issue we faced was drunk driving. Our solution for this was to add a breathalyzer into every car so that way you needed to blow into it too be able to turn on your car. If you tested positive for alcohol you would not be able to drive your car This will be one of the greatest ways to lower injuries and deaths in car crashes. Our final problem was high speed crashes. So for our final solution we decided to make a law to lower highway speed limits by 10 miles per hour. We then researched how laws were made and see if it was ethical. After all this we put it into our slideshow and picked pictures that wen well with our topics and tried to shorten most of our sentences to breif summaries.
