Argument Writing

For this project we had to answer the question "Is the use of Native Americans mascots a source of pride and honor for Native Americans, or is it racist and detrimental to Native American culture". We had to do this by writing a 5 paragraph essay on this topic. We had just read a book called The Absolutely True Diary of A Part Time Indian about a Native American kid who had a deformity and ended up moving to a school with all white kids and had to struggle through all of the derogatory stereotypes. We also had a bunch of articles that we red for evidence to try to defend our argument.

During this project I felt that I did a good job with my writing. Although there is always room for improvement when it comes to writing a good essay. I think that I did a good job managing my time, I would write two paragraphs a day and then reflect on them the day after and make any changes that I thought I needed. I was very organized when it came to managing everything and laying out a plan to complete this project. I think that this topic is important to understand both sides. If you don't see both sides of an argument it is easy to get sucked in and not truly fully understand the overall topic.
