For this project we were put into a group with two other people and had to make 3 different instruments. A wind, a string, and a percussion instrument was what we were required to make. We also had to make a song which could either be off a beat or a parody about something we learned.
This project started when we planned out which instruments we wanted to build for each of the three categories. We picked to make a flute, guitar, and chimes. We started brainstorming different ideas for how we could build these instruments. We then went and started our building process. We found many different pieces that could work for each instrument. For the flute all we really needed was a PVC pipe and a cap for one end. Then we drilled holes in it at different lengths to produce many notes. The guitar we made a hollow box out of thin pieces of wood and then cut a hole in the middle to reveal the inside. We then added a thicker and longer piece of wood to the end of the box and add guitar strings. Then for the chimes we made a PVC pipe frame which would then add different length metal pipes that would be tied between the frame. After we had all of this planned we got to work. That's when we got the news that our school would be closed because of Covid-19. We were barely halfway done with our instruments when this happened so we had to leave them at school. We had to persevere without our instruments to try to create a song. We had no way to meet each other so we did a three way call where we all went through each line of a song together and tried our best to create a parody about what we had learned about waves. Although we came across many challenges during this project we worked together to try to do as good as we could.
