In this project we had to draw and calculate different things about planets in our solar system. Then we had to put all of it on a poster.
For the first poster we were told to draw a map of the solar system as accurately as we could with no background information or anything. WE could only discuss what we new with our group and know one else.
We were told to try to make another poster but this time we could look at our Chromebook for any information that we needed. We also needed to try to write some facts about some of the planets.
In poster number three we had to focus on two planets and were given the mass, radius, and the distance from the sun. Then we had to use the equations to find the gravity and the force of gravity.
For poster 4 we had to pick a phenomenon that was about a planet and then have evidence and a picture to back up that phenomenon. And then try to find out if it worked with an unknown planet called planet x.
We had to find out for different things about both planet x and another planet called planet y. To do this we had a big table with all of the planets facts on it and we tried to find patterns and then predict what it would be like for the other two planets. Finally we had to do 2 different types of equations for 3 different planets to find the force of gravity and what our weight would be on that planet.
During this project I learned a lot about how to solve different equations about planets and the solar system. To start I now know the orbital location based on the orbital velocity and gravitational force by using an equation. I found that Newton's law of gravitation helped us find the force of gravity or Fg. I also learned how to see what my weight on other planets would be using the same equation. I also learned all different types of ways to model out, write, and draw the solar system. I used new types of vocab that would better ex plane what is going on in these equations. Therefor this project yet difficult taught me a lot about space and our solar system that I will remember for a long time.
