Major Focus – Designing, producing and evaluating
Description
This unit of work allows students to extend the design and metalworking skills developed in previous years. Students develop a design brief based on criteria relevant to this level of study. The students engage in appropriate areas of research in order to assist their problem solving and production skills including the use of CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing). Students will then generate a number of design options and present these in annotated graphic form.
Students construct the selected design using basic metalworking skills. The majority of time in this unit is spent producing the product. Finally, students will evaluate the overall success of the product.

Major Focus – Designing, producing and evaluating
Description
This unit of work introduces students to basic electrical/electronic and mechanical principles using 3D printing and CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing). Students produce a design folio which includes research and production planning. Students use their design skills, CAD/CAM and electronic equipment and components to produce several electric mechanical products. The majority of time in this unit is spent producing the products. Finally, students will evaluate the overall success of their product and the efficiency of their own production techniques.

Description
This unit of work allows students to develop their design and woodworking skills. Students develop a basic design brief based on the needs of an end - user. They will engage in the appropriate areas of research required to help solve the design problem including the use of CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing). Students generate a number of design options and present these in annotated graphic form.
Students construct their designs using traditional woodworking techniques. The majority of time in this unit is spent producing the product. Finally, students will evaluate the overall success of their product.
