Supervisor Leadership Academy (SLA) Part 1
Section 1
This section of the Supervisor Leadership Academy covers Human Resource Management. Specifically, this section goes over people management and building relationships with a deep dive into Management vs Leadership.
Section 2
This section of the Supervisor Leadership Academy continues with Human Resource Management. The emphasis in section 2 revolves around Employee Development and Task Management.
Section 3
This section of the Supervisor Leadership Academy covers Budget and Finance. Topics include: What is Budgeting, CDOT's revenue sources, Purchasing Thresholds and P-Crads, work plans and costs, expenditure tracking/authorization.
Section 4
This section of the Supervisor Leadership Academy covers Administration and Public Works Operations. Topics include: Managing Patrols, Fleet Management, Time Entry, Leave Requests, and Timesheet review.
Supervisor Leadership Academy (SLA) Part 2
Effective communication is a cornerstone of successful leadership. In this course, participants will refine their communication skills, learning how to articulate ideas clearly, listen actively, and adapt their communication style to different audiences and contexts. Through interactive exercises and role-playing scenarios, participants will develop strategies for fostering collaboration, resolving conflicts, and building strong relationships with stakeholders both within and outside of CDOT.
Preparedness and swift, effective response are critical components of emergency management in the transportation sector. This course will provide participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to assess, plan for, and respond to emergencies and crises effectively. Participants will explore emergency management frameworks, develop contingency plans, and engage in simulation exercises to enhance their readiness to mitigate risks and ensure the safety and continuity of operations.
Effective asset management is essential for optimizing the lifespan, functionality, and performance of transportation infrastructure assets. This course will equip participants with the principles, tools, and techniques necessary to develop and implement asset management strategies tailored to CDOT's needs. Participants will learn how to conduct asset inventories, prioritize maintenance activities, and leverage data-driven insights to make informed decisions that maximize the value of CDOT's assets and resources.
Project management is a core competency for transportation leaders tasked with overseeing the delivery of complex infrastructure projects. In this course, participants will learn the principles and best practices of project management, from project initiation to closeout. Through case studies and practical exercises, participants will develop skills in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring the successful delivery of transportation projects on time, within budget, and to specification.
