Flaggers are the first line of defense between the traveling public and individuals working in work zones; they provide safety to all involved parties.
The Flagger Certification program is designed to equip individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively manage traffic control and ensure safety in work zones.
This course covers key responsibilities and best practices for flaggers, including how to manage traffic flow, signaling drivers safely, and responding to hazardous situations while maintaining a clear and organized work environment.
Training & Certification Instructions
As of December 2024, the CDOT Flagger Certification has been moved to SOC Learns as a self-paced training. Individuals assigned the curricula can locate it on their Active Transcript.

The CDOT Flagger Certification is broken down into two parts:
CDOT Flagger Materials
CDOT Flagger Videos & Exams
IMPORTANT: All material in both sections needs to be Marked Complete to receive full credit and completion for this certification
Under My Training & Transcript, select Open Curriculum
You will see both sections: CDOT Flagger Materials & CDOT Flagger Videos and Exams.
Select View Details next to the CDOT Flagger Materials Section
Select Launch for each of the Materials items to review the content.
IMPORTANT: Be sure to select Mark Complete to receive credit for each item.
You will see a blue check mark once they have been Marked Complete and the Progress bar for the Materials section will show 100%. Progress bar for the Curriculum will show 50% once all Material is reviewed.
After all the materials have been viewed and completed, Select the CDOT Flagger Videos and Exams Section
Select Launch to view each video.
IMPORTANT: Be sure to select Mark Complete after viewing each video to receive credit
Select Launch Test to complete the test for each video.
After receiving a passing score of 80% or higher, you will see a blue check mark, updated progress bar status, and view certificate for each test.
Once all materials, videos, and tests have been successfully completed, the curriculum progress will show 100% and the curriculum will move to the Completed tab of the Transcript.
Select View Certificate to download and save your Certification Flagger Card.
