CDL Training
ELDT CDL Agenda - Google Docs.pdfFMCSA’s Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) regulations set the baseline for training requirements for entry-level drivers. This applies to those seeking to:
Obtain a Class A or Class B CDL for the first time;
Upgrade an existing Class B CDL to a Class A CDL; or
Obtain a school bus (S), passenger (P), or hazardous materials (H) endorsement for the first time.
Any individual who meets one of the exceptions for taking a skills test in 49 CFR Part 383 is also exempt from the ELDT requirements.
Course Prerequisites:
Obtain a Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP)
Obtain DOT Physical

Program Structure & Limitations
First Time CDL: For Unlicensed Operators & Trainees - Obtain Permit, DOT Physical, CDL B with Auto Restriction
CDL Upgrade: For Existing CDL B Licensees - Obtain CDL A with Pintle Restriction (for Tow Plow Operators & HEO III's)
Unrestricted CDL A: Must determine Business Need for unrestricted License (HEO IV's)

!!! Admins or attendees!!! Please make sure to let us know when you (or your attendee) have your Permit and DOT physical done. This is required to have before class starts. Once permit and/or Dot physical has been obtained please let either tom.swartwood@state.co.us or sean.lichota@state.co.us know so we can update the registration sheet.
