Parish Office Hours

The parish office will close at 3:00pm on Friday, April 3rd, so that staff can attend the Good Friday Liturgy. The parish office will also be closed for the Easter holiday on Monday, April 6th. Holy Week Collections

RICE BOWL COLLECTION

On Holy Thursday, our parish will take up the annual collection for our sisters and brothers across the globe facing hardships like hunger and climate change. Through your Lenten alms, we have the power to make the world a better place for all.

HOLY LAND COLLECTION

On Good Friday, our parish will take up the annual collection to support Christians and holy places in the Holy Land. Stand in solidarity with the Church as a witness of peace.

Divine Mercy Sunday & Novena Prayers

Divine Mercy Sunday is celebrated on the Second Sunday of Easter, completing the Church’s Octave of Easter and highlighting God’s boundless mercy revealed in the risen Christ.

Jesus entrusted this devotion to St. Faustina, reminding us that peace is found through trust in His Divine Mercy. All are invited to pray the Divine Mercy Novena, which begins on Good Friday—SEE BELOW FOR DETAILS ⬇️

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY & NOVENA PRAYERS

Divine Mercy Sunday is celebrated on the Second Sunday of Easter. The Second Sunday of Easter completes the Octave (8 day celebration) of Easter and the readings and prayer texts highlight the mystery of divine compassion that underlies the Church’s Easter faith.

The origins of Divine Mercy Sunday date back to St. Faustina (1905-1938) who reported having visions of Jesus and conversations with him. In one of the visions Jesus shared that "Humanity will never find peace until it turns with trust to Divine Mercy." Divine Mercy is the Easter gift that the Church receives from the risen Christ and offers to humanity.

Jesus asked that the Feast of the Divine Mercy be preceded by a Novena to the Divine Mercy which begins on Good Friday. He gave St. Faustina an intention to pray for on each day of the Novena. “On each day of the novena you will bring to My heart a different group of souls and you will immerse them in this ocean of My mercy…. On each day you will beg My Father, on the strength of My passion, for the graces for these souls.”

Holy Week

The Sacred Triduum

The word “Triduum” comes from the Latin word meaning “three days,” and encompasses the three most sacred days in the Church year. It begins at sundown on Holy Thursday, reaches a high point at the Easter Vigil, and concludes with evening prayer at sundown on Easter Sunday. While it may appear as if these liturgies are separate and distinct, they are actually intended to be one continuous celebration that commemorates the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus. Holy Week & Easter Schedule

An additional Evening Mass will be offered at 5:00pm Monday through Wednesday of Holy Week with Confessions before and after and on Easter Monday.

Holy Thursday, April 2nd

Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7:00 p.m

Eucharistic Adoration and Confessions until 10:00pm

Good Friday, April 3rd

Solemn Commemoration of the Lord's Passion at 3:00pm

Candlelit Stations of the Cross at 7:00 p.m.

Confessions from 12 noon until 8pm

Day of fast and abstinence from meat. Fasting allows a person to eat one full meal. Two smaller meals may be taken in addition, but should not equal one full meal.

Please note that there will be no daily Mass on Holy Thursday, April2nd and Good Friday, April 3rd. There will be not be an 8:30 a.mdaily Mass nor at 4:00 p.m. Vigil Mass on Holy Saturday, April 4th.

Join us at NOON for the Office of Readings, followed by the Blessing of Easter Food & Baskets.

The Office of Readings, part of the Church’s Liturgy of the Hours, includes psalms and readings from Scripture and the Early Church. Afterward, families are invited to bring Easter baskets to be blessed. In this beautiful tradition, families bring baskets of food to be blessed, giving thanks for God’s gifts, celebrating the Resurrection of the Lord, and marking the end of the Lenten season. Office of Readings

Office of readings is a selection of Psalms prayed by the entire Church’s clergy, religious and even some of the laity. There are also two readings, one from Sacred Scripture and another one Chosen from the writings and homilies of clergy in the time of the Early Church.

Blessing of Easter Baskets:

This practice, typically done more in the East, is a ceremony where families bring baskets of food to church to be blessed by a priest. This beautiful custom symbolizes gratitude, The Resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and the end of Lenten Season. Usually people will fill their Easter baskets with food that they will use to eat on the night of Easter Sunday. Among other food people usually bring:

Eggs which may be hard-boiled and painted, symbolizing new life and resurrection.
Bread, symbolizing that Jesus is the bread of heaven.
Salt, which reminds us to live with purity and integration.
Butter symbolizes the goodness and richness of life with Christ.
A candle, which symbolizes Christ as a light of the world.
Meat, symbolizing the end of our lenten abstinence and a turning point to abundance and celebration.

The basket represents our offering of our lives to God, the gathering of the good things God has given us, and the Resurrection.

Join Us for the Easter Vigil

Join us at the Easter Vigil as we welcome catechumens & candidates into the Catholic Church.

The Great Vigil of Easter is one of the most beautiful and oldest known rites of the church, dating back to the second century. It brings worshippers, literally and symbolically, from darkness into light. Celebrate the first Eucharist of the Easter season and the sacraments of Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation for those joining the Catholic faith. A reception will follow immediately after Mass.

FAITH FORMATION & EDUCATION

PREP

We will not meet for classes on April 5th during Easter and Spring Break. We will resume classes on April 12th.

Children's Liturgy

Please note that the Children’s Liturgy of the Word will not be offered at the Sunday 10:30am Easter Mass. During the year, children ages 4–7 are invited to participate in this special time of readings, songs, and activities designed to help them more fully engage in the Mass. We kindly ask that all children participate reverently and respectfully.

Nursery

Please note that the Children’s Nursery will not be available on Easter Sunday. We welcome all families to celebrate this joyful day together at Mass, and wish you a blessed Easter!

St. Albert Book Club

Our book for April book will be My Life on the Rock : A Rebel Returns to His Faith by Jeff Cavins. We will meet on the last Thursday of the month, April 30th at 10am in the Sacred Heart Center. All are welcome! No reservation needed. Just read the book and show up! Our May book will be Mother Angelica: The Remarkable Story of a Nun, Her Nerve, and a Network of Miracles by Raymond Arroyo.

Markey's Group

The next gathering of Markey’s Group will take place on Tuesday, April, 21st at 5:00pm at Village Anchor, 11507 Park Road. Please note we are meeting for dinner. To help us plan seating, please RSVP to Rosemary Walsburger at 502-552-7249 no later than Monday, April 20th.

Markey’s Group invites anyone who has experienced the loss of a spouse to join us for socializing and the enjoyment of a good meal.

Hope & Healing Group: Substance Abuse Passing
St. Albert the Great hosts a monthly support group for those who have lost a loved one from any type of substance use. Third Wednesday of the month from 6:30 to 8:00pm (SHC).

NAMI Family Support Group
The group provides a safe space for family and friends of people with mental health conditions to receive knowledge, encouragement and support. Third Sunday of the month at 7:00pm (PLC). Loaves & Fishes

April 11th-12th

Our next Loaves & Fishes collection will support the EACM Food Pantry. Donations are always needed—especially peanut butter, pasta, canned vegetables and fruit, and canned meats (including tuna). We also welcome items for preparing ethnic dishes, such as tortillas, various types of rice and noodles, and coconut milk. Diapers and baby wipes are always needed for the diaper closet. Thank you for your continued generosity in caring for our neighbors in need.

Please note: canned corn and green beans are not needed at this time.

Red Cross Blood Drive

The Social Concerns Team are sponsoring our quarterly Red Cross blood drive in the Parish Life Complex on Sunday 4/19/26 from 8am until 1pm. Appointments are recommended but not required. Appointments can also be made directly with the Red Cross at 1-800-RED-CROSS or online at www.Redcrossblood.org. Donors who register are also encouraged to fill out the “Rapid Pass” online within 24 hours of their donation to expedite the donation process.

Environmental Concerns Committee

The Environmental Concerns Committee would like to encourage everyone at St. Albert’s parish to support our friends at RESolutions and the City of Plantation in their Annual Spring Cleaning & Donation Event on Saturday, April 18th from 9 –11 A.M.

It’s a wonderful opportunity for all of us to help the environment. RESolutions is showing their love for the environment by helping us recycle items we might otherwise toss away, and by allowing us to donate items (and thus allowing others to reuse them) that others need. Let us show our love for the environment by supporting RESolutions in this most worthwhile event. You can see their announcement in this week’s Parish Post and bulletin.

Summer Adult Co-Ed Kickball League

St. Albert Gap Club is putting together it's Summer Adult Co-Ed Kickball League and we need 2 more teams to make a 12 team league. This is a fun/competitive league where you can bring your kids, let them play on the playground, eat a cheeseburger & fries, have a cold adult beverage with your friends, and play some good kickball.

Parish Clean-Up Day

April 25th at 9:30AM | St. Albert Campus

Our parish will be holding a campus-wide clean-up day on Saturday, April 25 at 9:30 AM. All storage areas will be cleaned and organized.

If your ministry or organization has items stored on campus, please be sure to clearly mark everything you wish to keep before April 25. Any items not marked will be assumed to be unwanted and will be discarded.
