In order to have a successful login abroad, please consider the following Do's and Don'ts:
Do!
Download & install the Microsoft Authenticator app. The authenticator works anywhere that you have data access. In most cases this should be the primary form of MFA.
Have a backup form of MFA. SMS (text) messaging is a great backup in case your phone is damaged, you don't have data service(due to roaming) or you have to re-install the authenticator app.
Backup your Microsoft Authenticator app settings. Should the app stop functioning properly and need to be reinstalled, you'll need to restore your settings from a backup.
Don't!
Change your SIM card until *AFTER* you've changed the phone number on your account. Visit myaccount.microsoft.com > click Security Info and update your phone number to your international number.
Forget to test your authenticator app. If it doesn't work while state-side, it's not going to work while abroad. Make sure it works *BEFORE* you leave!
If you're unsure how to do any of this or want a double-check before leaving, please don't hesitate to call the Tech Deck @ 512.819.7333!! We want you to be successful in your journey and a little pre-planning can make your trip easier!
